This is Maplewood

After being away on maternity leave with my firstborn, my daughter and I took part in the annual Maplewood Story Book Character Parade on my second day back at work. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with open arms and big smiles from students, adults, and staff. This photo captures everything I love most about Maplewood. Without family by blood here in Texas, I am beyond thankful for my Maplewood community, which has truly become my family. It was humbling seeing so many familiar faces who stopped to say, "Welcome back!" and ask about my baby. I see you, I know you genuinely care, and I want to say so do we. This is Ruby Morgan, former Maplewood Mustang from 17 years ago, who was instrumental in our 3rd grade class’ volunteer project involving creating libraries in Uganda. Here she is continuing to make a difference while working with Waves of Impact. I couldn’t be more proud of her. She represents what made/makes Maplewood Elementary a special place to learn and grow.
