Join the school community on Saturday, October 20 to renew Maplewood’s Courtyard Pollinator Garden!
The courtyard is the heart of the school, and already home to several plants that attract butterflies and bees (roses, turk’s cap and passion flower vines). We want to make the courtyard an even more vibrant wildlife habitat and a more accessible space for the entire community. On the upcoming work day we will be pruning some overgrown plants and vines, creating mulch paths to the fish pond, and planting more native pollinator-friendly plants donated by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
The PTA has applied for a Bright Green Futures grant and hopes to add a limestone path, more plants, and educational signage in the spring.
Bring a water bottle and outdoor shoes. We will have gloves, tools loaned by Keep Austin Beautiful, water and snacks for everyone.
